A properly designed system can help:

Reduce your monthly electricity costs
Reduce your exposure to future utility rate increases
Generate clean energy from your own roof
Prepare your home for future battery storage or EV charging
Create greater long-term control over your household energy use

Rhode Island also offers net metering for eligible residential solar systems, allowing homeowners to receive bill credits for qualifying solar energy sent back to the grid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is solar worth it for a home in Barrington, RI?

Solar can be a worthwhile long-term investment for Barrington homeowners who have suitable roof space. The potential savings depend on your home’s energy consumption, roof conditions, system size, financing, and available incentive programs.

Newport Solar evaluates these factors before recommending a system so you can understand the expected costs and benefits for your property.

Does Barrington Community Electricity affect homeowners with solar?

Barrington Community Electricity is the Town’s electricity supply program. Customers who receive solar electricity benefits through net metering or Renewable Energy Growth continue to receive those benefits while participating in the program.

Can I add battery storage to my solar system?

Yes. Solar can be designed alongside battery storage or with future storage in mind.

Batteries can provide greater control over your home’s energy and, when properly configured, provide backup power during outages.
